X, formerly Twitter, to launch premium subscription tiers

According to Musk, there will be two new tiers of X Premium subscriptions: one with lower cost and all the features but no reduction in ads, and another with higher cost but no ads.

X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, will be introducing premium subscriptions for users, as per a recent post by the current owner of X, Elon Musk. According to Musk, there will be two new tiers of X Premium subscriptions: one with lower cost and all the features but no reduction in ads, and the other with higher cost but no ads.

On October 17, X launched a type of premium subscription called 'Not a Bot' on a test trial basis in the Philippines and New Zealand. This subscription method aims to reduce spam and bot accounts on X while "balancing platform accessibility with a small fee amount", says the official blog of X.

The 'Not a Bot' subscription method costs USD $1 per year, with subscribed users given access to all the regular features on X such as liking posts, replying, reposting or quoting other accounts. However, new accounts that opt to not choose the subscription will only be able to perform 'read-only actions' such as reading posts, watching videos, and following accounts.

It is currently unclear if Musk plans to launch this 'Not a Bot' subscription method globally or if a new method of premium subscription for X is in the works.
