X, formerly Twitter, to introduce video calling feature

According to X CEO Linda Yaccarino, X plans on introducing a lot of new features on the platform, including being able to make video calls without having to give phone numbers to anyone.

X, the social media platform previously known as Twitter, is planning on introducing video calling features as part of the app, as per a recent confirmation by X CEO Linda Yaccarino.

During a recent interview with CNBC, Yaccarino highlighted how X is on its way to becoming an "everything app" since Elon Musk's acquisition of Twitter last year. According to her, X plans on introducing a lot of new features on the platform, including being able to make video calls without having to give phone numbers to anyone.

Yaccarino, who has been made Twitter's new CEO in June, added that X also plans on adding long-form videos and creator subscriptions to the app. However, she or anyone from X has not officially stated a timeline or release date for these new features.

When asked about the change from Twitter to X, she said: "The rebrand represented really a liberation of Twitter". A "liberation", which to her, allowed the company to "evolve past a legacy mindset and thinking". With X's upcoming changes, she believes the app is going to change how users  "congregate, entertain, and transact all in one platform".
