WhatsApp reportedly down for thousands of Bangladeshi users, returns to normal

Many other countries are reporting outages as well

WhatsApp is reportedly down in the Indian subcontinent.

WhatsApp is reportedly facing disruption for people across the country.

Outage detector website Downdetector.com shows a rise in the number of complaints from around 1 PM Bangladesh Standard Time.

When connecting to the browser version (https://web.whatsapp.com/), the URL asks the user if their internet is down and automatically logs out users. Users are afterwards unable to log in using the 'linked devices' option for WhatsApp in browsers.

WhatsApp is reportedly down in India, Pakistan, USA and UK as well, at the time of writing this report.

There has not been any official announcement yet from Meta.

This is the first time WhatsApp has been down since the major outage last year, which also included other Meta platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. Back then, Facebook was reportedly down due to router configuration changes. This time, however, Facebook and Instagram are currently up and running, with users experiencing problems with only WhatsApp.

However, some users have reported that WhatsApp is back online hours after the first report of the outage.
