Adobe's new AI tool can match art styles of uploaded images

Instead of just allowing users to generate images from text prompts, the tool will allow users to upload up to 10 to 20 images to be used as "inspiration" to match the preferred art style.

Adobe, the popular software company behind Photoshop and Illustrator, has recently announced a new image-generation tool called 'Generative Match' which can identify the art style of an uploaded image and generate new images, illustrations, and concept designs based on the matched art style.

The Generative Match tool will be added as a feature in Adobe Firefly, the prompt-based AI art generator that the company released in March of this year. However, instead of just allowing users to generate images from text prompts, the tool will also allow users to upload up to 10 to 20 images to be used as "inspiration" to match the preferred art style.

The official blog post by Adobe shows how the new tool can match the style of an uploaded image to create a brand new logo.

As per Adobe, 'Generative Match' can be a useful tool for graphic design and branding as well. One example they showed was using an illustration of a tree with green leaves as the style reference image, with the output showing a woman figure silhouette in a more unique-looking symbol that matches the colours, aesthetics, and art style of the original image.

Adobe's example of how the new AI tool can also design fashion and apparel using a given reference image.

Furthermore, the tool can be used for content creation as well, being able to easily churn out images and illustrations for articles, blogs, and social media posts based on simple reference images. Adobe adds that by using specific reference images, like an image of pumpkins, witch hats, and spider webs, the AI tool can generate fashion and apparel as well, which in this example, was a Halloween-themed dress.

As per a report by Reuters, Ely Greenfield, Adobe's Chief Technology Officer for Digital Media, said the company aims to let big brands upload a handful of photos of a product or character and then use generative technology to automatically make hundreds or thousands of images for various needs like websites, social media campaigns and print advertisements.
