BNP Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman today sent a legal notice to Awami League leader Mahbubul Alam Hanif asking him to apologise in two weeks for making derogatory comments about him.
The AL joint general secretary on September 6 reportedly said that the BNP leader had met with terrorists for plotting the August 21, 2004 grenade attack. “He also had a meeting with Mafia don Daud Ibrahim in Dubai,” the notice said quoting Hanif.
Tarique is an agent of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) of Pakistan, Hanif said according to a report published in daily Samakal.
In the legal notice, Tarique termed Hanif’s statements “false and defamatory” and said that the remark had undermined him politically and socially.
So, Hanif has to apologise to Tarique and the public, Tarique said in the legal notice.
Kayser Kamal, a counsel for Tarique, sent the notice to Hanif on behalf of Tarique saying that appropriate legal action will be taken against the AL league leader if he does not apologise for making such a statement.
