Dengue cases cross 55,000-mark

At least one dengue patient died while 221 others were admitted to different hospitals across the country in the last 24 hours till this morning.

With 221 new dengue cases, the total number of cases rose to 55,145, of which 19,858 from outside Dhaka.

With the new death, the total number of deaths rose to 242, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the deaths, 147 are in Dhaka, 25 in Cox's Bazar, 31 in Chattogram, 11 in Barishal, seven in Khulna, six in Mymensingh, five in Rajshahi, two Narail and one each in Narsingdi, Kushtia, Pabna, Bagerhat, Khagrachhari, Bogura, Madaripur and Feni.

A total of 52,934 patients have already been released, 18,929 are from outside Dhaka.

Some 1969 dengue patients are still undergoing treatment, of which 834 are from outside Dhaka.
