Bulk power price won't rise at consumer level now: Nasrul Hamid

The prices of electricity and fuel have to be adjusted all over the world due to the increase in production costs, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said today.

"At the consumer level, prices are not increasing right now. Whether price will increase also depends on field-level data. The next decision will be taken after verifying all the impacts. I can't say anything about it right now," Nasrul Hamid told reporters at the secretariat.

He said the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission has taken the decision to increase the bulk price of electricity by 19.92 percent by themselves, considering all the aspects.

"Earlier, they did not increase the price even after giving the announcement. They did everything after scrutiny. At the consumer level, prices are not rising right now, people have nothing to worry about," the state minister said.
