Sylhet JCD leader stabbed dead
A Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leader was stabbed to death allegedly by his rivals in the student body in Sylhet this evening.
Zillur Rahman, 25, was a former president of the Gobindaganj college unit of JCD, reports our Sylhet correspondent.
Police arrested two suspected killers immediately after the incident.
Locals said six JCD activists of a rival group on three motorbikes swooped on Zillur when he was standing near North East CNG filling station at Pathantola around 7:00pm.
The attackers chased him to a lane and stabbed him indiscriminately. The pedestrians took him to the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital where the physicians declared him dead around 7:15pm.
The victim died due to excessive bleeding, SM Rokon Uddin, additional commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police, told our correspondent quoting physicians.
Police later arrested two people-- Sayem Ahmed and Farid Ahmed -- and recovered two bloodstained daggers and two motorbikes as they were fleeing through Madina market.
