Swapnadal to premiere “Spartacus” on October 23

Theatre troupe Swapnadal is set to bring their new production “Spartacus” to stage on October 23 at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilapakala Academy.

The play has been translated by Badal Sircir based on US novelist Howard Fast's novel of the same name. Zahid Repon has adapted and directed the play. The troupe will dedicate the play to the victims of Rana Plaza tragedy.

“Spartacus” is a tale of rebellion against Roman slavery system and oppression. Spartacus, the protagonist of the play was a Thracian gladiator who was the leader of a slave uprising against the Roman Republic.

Fazle Rabbi Sukorno has designed the stage for the play, while Jasim Uddiin and Enam Tara Saki have done the light design and choreography respectively.
