Student shot dead in Narsingdi robbery

A school student was gunned down while seven people were injured during a robbery in Rangamatia area of Narsingdi town early today.
The victim Ahmad Ali, 15, was a class eight student of KKM High School at Satirpara in Narsingdi town and son of Shaheed Mia of Rangamatia, reports our Narsindi correspondent.
Police said a group of 10 to 12 armed robbers wearing police uniforms tried to enter a nearby house of the victim by cutting window grills around 1:30am.
Sensing this, people from adjoining area rushed to the spot and chased the robber. At one stage, the robbers fired bullets to manage their safe escape leaving Ali dead on the spot and four injured, Abul Kashem, officer-in-charge of Narsingdi Sadar Police Station said.
The injured were first taken to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital and later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as their condition deteriorated.
In another incident, robbers looted gold ornaments and other valuables from a house at Desh Prio Road in the town around 3:00am.
Amit Shah, owner of the house told our correspondent that, a group of robbers entered his house and looted the valuables by holding inmates of the house at gunpoint.
The robbers fired on the inmates when they were trying to resist them, leaving at least three people critically injured.
The injured Sumit Shahd and Audrita Shah were also taken to DMCH, police said.
