Prerona Foundation and PFDA Vocational Training Centre join hands to support specially-abled individuals

Prerona Foundation recently partnered with PFDA Vocational Training Centre to create sustainable livelihood generation opportunities for differently-abled individuals, in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak. The project, titled Amra Shikhi, Amra Pari, have enabled students of PFDA Vocational Training Centre to take online training on face mask production. After the training, the differently-abled individuals are currently producing masks and helping the nation fight against the pandemic, while supporting themselves.

The project kicked off after the MoU signing by Mubina Asaf, Director, Governing Body, Prerona Foundation and Sajida Rahman Danny, Founding Chairman, PFDA-Vocational Training Center.

Prerona Foundation has been working for a brighter future for the marginalised communities in Bangladesh. PFDA-Vocational Training Center (PFDA-VTC) was founded in 2014 with an aim to build skills and develop the capacity of differently-abled persons to bring them into mainstream social and economic activities.

Two types of masks are being produced under this project, surgical masks and fabric masks, following the WHO guidelines for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) production. 

The fabric masks fulfil all the parameters set by the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) in Bangladesh and they have been tested and certified by government approved certification agency, Dysin International Ltd. These will be made available in the market for purchase shortly. The surgical masks will also be made available for commercial sale in the short-run. Every purchase of these mask will directly contribute to the livelihood of the differently-abled individuals and their families.
