Coping with a public health emergency can be stressful, as people try to manage the uncertainty about the future. However, there are steps you can take to build your wellness.

Cook

Food is a great stress-buster, in all situations. Whether you want to experiment with desserts or savory dishes, now is a good time to explore your culinary skills.

Follow a skincare routine at home

As it is not deemed safe to go to spas and salons at the moment, you can create your own skincare routine at home, with natural products from your kitchen. From potato and papaya peels to lemon juice, using home remedies is one of the best and most affordable ways to take care of your skin.

Exercise and eat well

With plenty of time to spare at home, take care of your physical and mental health by exercising, eating well, getting a good night's rest and relaxing with some yoga and stretching.

Write and draw

You can keep a journal, with daily updates of your days during the pandemic. You can also write down up to five things for which you feel grateful, or specific details of an event, experience or accomplishment. If writing is not your thing, you can sketch or paint. Bring out the colours and let your thoughts flow on a piece of paper. Such activities are immensely calming and therapeutic.

Reconnect with old friends

Reach out to friends you have not spoken to in a long time, while maintaining recommended social distance through calls, texts, e-mails or social media. Talk to them about your feelings about the pandemic, but also enjoy other good conversations, over a cup of coffee or tea. Surround yourself with people who make you feel good.

Play indoor games

Indoor and board games are one of the best ways to spend time with your family, and relax a bit. Be it Ludo, Monopoly, Uno or any of your childhood favourites, plan a game night with your loved ones today.
