National Youth Leadership Summit 2019

To establish peace through youths, the Youth Club of Bangladesh (YCB), in collaboration with Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF), hosted its National Youth Leadership Summit 2019 with the motto 'Let's build a peaceful Bangladesh' recently at the Institute of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (IDEB), Dhaka.  Over 250 young leaders from all over the country participated at this summit with the aim to encourage the youth population to lead initiatives that contribute to social development.

The session was inaugurated by Shaheen Anam, Executive Director, MJF. In his welcome address, he said, "The people of our generations were mostly freedom fighters and they liberated our country. However, the current youth population is the ones to shape our future and bring about prosperity. Each pair of young hands should be awarded the responsibility of safety and advancement."

"We are responsible for our own actions and thus, we should be responsible for our own accountabilities. I see young spirits trying to make a positive change and these initiatives are actually assurances that we have a responsible population to carry on the legacy of liberation by liberating not only people but their minds. They are our leaders and I believe, a leader is who goes and shows. So, be a change-maker," he added.

Advocate Md Shah Monjurul Hoque also attended the session.

 "Accomplishments by young leaders are always praised. However, we fail to notice their struggles. I extend my hand and offer my help in any way possible," said Muzahid Al Beruni Sujon, Director, SMART technologies BD.

Kanbar Hossein- Bor, British Deputy High Commissioner to Bangladesh, attended this summit as the chief guest. In his keynote address, he said, "The youths are as lively as a spring. Thus, our work should also be vivid and innovative, empowering positive change. I wish you all the best for your initiatives."

The inauguration ceremony was followed by a series of day-long workshops where the young participants learned about social values, innovative thinking, and were briefed about the development process.

The summit was chaired by Nasima Akter, and co-chaired by Md Saiful Islam, News Editor, Bangladesh and Abdun Nur Tushar, CEO, Nagorik Television, along with Faridul Hossain, former DG, EPB, and  Md Shobur Khan, Chairperson, Daffodil International University attended this event as special guests.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Arefin Rahman, Moderator, YCB after certificates and prizes were distributed among the participants.
