Lessons I learnt in 2020

2020 has been difficult for everyone. As I say goodbye to the year, I look back at some of the important lessons I learnt.

It goes without saying, if there is anything all of us learnt to appreciate in 2020, it is good health. The pandemic has not only provided us with ample time, but also with  the perfect opportunity to take a break and care for things that matter.

In the hustle and bustle of life, we often overlook the little things that add joy to life. During the pandemic and and the months of isolation, I have realised that it is not the great things that only count. I have learnt to cherish little things; like a good conversation with a loved one, a family meal, or simply watching a movie together.

After spending almost ten months at home, I picked up both old and new hobbies, and reflected upon my ambitions. I have used the break to refresh, and work on making my life better. Although I didn't have many achievements, this year has helped me to plan the days ahead.

From Zoom meetings to Google classrooms, I have learnt to embrace virtual life. There are many pitfalls of virtual interactions, but on the bright side, I have been able to reconnect with old friends online. I also attended several skill-development virtual events and celebrated birthdays over conference calls.

Our regular routines give us little time to rewind and relax. The pandemic proved to be the perfect escape from the hectic lifestyle. I have indulged into self-care routines and started doing things just to have fun. It has allowed me to rejuvenate and focus more. Be it yoga, skincare or reading, I've tried it all.
