Framing the bundles of joy

Even though she started off with basic photography as a passion, little did she know that one day she will be specialising with baby photography. Maisha Samiha runs Studio Picturerific in Banani, with a fresh approach towards photography in Dhaka that is gaining momentum steadily. There are not many names one can often find when they want their toddlers photographed professionally, contrary to the colossal list of wedding photographers. After completing a few workshops on photography from Malaysia, Maisha decided to quit her regular '9 to 5' and decided to peruse her passion.

Her profession demands extreme precaution as sometimes the babies that come in are as little as 8 to 9 days old. Prior to clicking the shots, the little ones need to be positioned in a manner that will look adorable in the picture, but at the same time assure their safety. However, having had the advantage of dealing with babies from an early age, gave Maisha the patience needed for a head start in her business, which she began this year. Her longest shoot lasted for 7 long hours, which gives an overview of how crucial dedication is when it comes to her profession. It tends to get a little chaotic with the older kids, as they are continuously running to and fro, so Maisha has to follow them around and take candid shots until she captures the right moment. "No matter how much effort is required to get the perfect shot, it is always worth it because working with babies is a heavenly experience!" she expressed. "Given how you have to deal with the toddlers in this profession, it eventually preps you to be half a mom."

Studio Picturerific provides a range of packages for their clients which start from Tk 6,000 and go up to Tk 10,000. Apart from specialising with photographing babies, she also conducts sessions with older kids and families. Her studio is equipped with a wide variety of baby props and costumes for the little ones which she orders from England. Besides conducting studio sessions, Maisha is also experimenting with birthdays, baby showers and other similar events. So, if you are in the mood of framing some special family moments to rejoice later, make sure to check her Facebook page www.facebook.com/studiopicturerific for more details.
