‘Essence from Experts’ held at NDUB

Notre Dame University Bangladesh Business Club (NDUBBC), in association with Dhaka University Career Club, organised a peek-in programme titled 'Essence from Experts' as part of 'DUCC presents Young Professional Summit recently, at the NDUB campus. Professor Dr Father Patrick D Gaffney, CSC, Vice Chancellor, NDUB, initiated the session with his welcome speech emphasising on the importance of individual development. He concluded his speech with the notion of "being in the present and looking into the future".

The summit consisted of sessions by renowned professionals including the likes of Najmus Ahmed Albab, CEO, Lighthouse Bangladesh, Uzair Hafiz, Assistant Director, Quality Integrated Agro Limited, Ahashanuzzaman Shujan, Manager, Human Resource, IPDC Finance Limited, Hasnat Kamal, Head of HR, Urmee Group Md Mushfiqur Rahman, Business Development and External Affairs, Mind Mapper, and Md Muhyminul Islam, President, Dhaka University Career Club.

The discussion started with Muhayminul Islam's talk on personal grooming (etiquettes, dress-up, interpersonal skills, and first impression), skill set (hard and soft skill), emotional intelligence, digitalisation, and technology. He also encouraged the students to participate in the summit by providing various interesting facts about the summit which kindled the interest of the students.

This session was followed by Kazi Mahir Mahdi's talk where he shared his experience about the Ready Made Garment (RMG) sector in Bangladesh. He discussed the industry factors, milestones, and the contribution of RMG sectors in terms of exports. He also focused on the issue of gender balance in the professional field saying, "Women are no less in any aspect, especially in RMG. Equal opportunities and challenges will prevail, irrespective of gender, religion or social class. Skill and sincerity are all that matters."

The third session was conducted by Rashed Islam Robi who spoke about Bangladesh Cancer Aid Foundation (BANCAF). He emphasised on the importance of such non-profit organisations stating, "Helping a person in need is a privilege and the idea of helping cancer patients who are unable to pay for their treatment, is more like a blessing. Healing their illness makes me happy."

Finally, Miraj Hossain representing IPDC, asserted on the aim for organising such a summit saying, "This summit is for young professionals and is intended to enhance their knowledge, skill, expertise, and experience through expert advice."

The programme came to an end with a vote of thanks by Father Tom McDermott, CSC, Director, NDUB Language Center.
