Eminence 2019: Annual Toastmasters Division J Conference

The Toastmasters Division J conference 'Eminence 2019' took place for the first time in Dhaka, at The Olives in Gulshan recently. Toastmasters clubs, which are operated by the US headquartered organisation Toastmasters International, promote public speaking and leadership skills. Over 100 participants from Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka gathered at this year's Division J conference to watch the prepared speeches of the International Speech Contest and the impromptu speeches of the Table Topic Contest.

The chair, Area J4 Director TM Mohammad Zahid Hossain, proudly states "It has been a great team work which has got Area J4 to successfully arrange this event. Anything can be achieved as long as people come together and act accordingly."

The distinguished guests at  the occasion comprised of District 41 Program Quality Director DTM Prashant Goyal, Division J Director DTM Ayan Pal, Assistant Program Quality Director TM Mohammad Habibul Islam, Area J1 Director TM Abha Ohri, Area J2 Director TM Rita Harlalka, Area J3 Director and conference co-chair TM Golam Dastagir Jony. Amongst the dignitaries, Shaiikh Abdul Aziz, Chairman, Leads Corporation Ltd was also in attendance, who presented the keynote speech.

The contestants, who previously won in their respective Toastmasters clubs from Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka, battled for the Division championship. Zaheida Kareem Treeno, from Chittagong Toastmasters Club won the Table Topic Contest and Saumendu Bhattacharjee, from Toastmasters Club of Guwahati (India) won the International Speech Contest.

The winners will compete in the District level contest which is scheduled to take place in Kolkata, India from May 24 - 26.
