DRMC hosts 12th National Science Carnival

Organised by the Dhaka Residential Model College (DRMC) Science Club, the DRMC-Summit National Science Carnival is one of the biggest science programmes in Bangladesh. The twelfth edition of the festival was held recently, on the theme, 'Appetitum Scientiae - Thirst for Knowledge.  The State Minister of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Nasrul Hamid, MP, was the chief guest at the inauguration. Faysal Karim Khan, Additional Managing Director, Summit Group, was impressed by the array of events at the festival and expressed his desire to be with DRMCSC in the near future.The Inauguration was presided by Brig General Ashfaque Iqbal, Principal, Dhaka Residential Model College. The DRMC Science Club has been organising the event ever year since its inception in 2008 with a goal to create a platform for science enthusiasts and foster young scientists.



This time, there were several Olympiads including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Astronomy, Earth, Biology and others. The Mechanics Olympiad was the newest addition to their wide range of categories. This year, the club organised a line-following robot contest for the second time. A team from SUST emerged victorious, earning Tk 25,000 as prize money while NDITC Bumblebee from NDC earned Tk 15,000 as runners-up.  There were also  CSGO and PUBG mobile contests.

 The 52 acres Challenge was one of the highlights of the event, with over 40 teams. The festival also comprised of a wide array of events including the Marvel vs DC quiz, where over 80 teams took part. There were also chess and rubik's cube tournaments.

 Supreme Court Advocate AneekR.Haque was the quizmaster of the Mega Quiz. Distinguished scientist Dr Mohammad Kaykobad was present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the festival.  He appreciated DRMC for hosting such an amazing fest with a large crowd of enthusiastic participants from institutions all across Dhaka. Ali Ashraf Khan, Managing Director, BBS Cables was also present as a guest. With the total number of participants crossing 10,000, the magnitude of the festival was undoubtedly significant and gathered much attention from students of various institutions.
