This International Women's Day, Bangladesh Debating Council organised the first ever Shevolution, an event for women, by women. The two-day tournament sponsored by Runner Group and co-sponsored by Akij Group comprised of debate, art, wall magazine and poetry competitions in which female students from all over the country participated enthusiastically. With an objective to invite, inspire and integrate female students into the activity of debating, Shevolution was held at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) and was organised by a group of female students from different institutions of Dhaka. Tabassum Khan Prithi from IBA, University of Dhaka, a coordinator in the event, shared her views. "It felt amazing working with the wonderful women from different institutions. The reaction we received from our participants is incredible," she said. I remember collecting banners from Nilkhet at midnight and getting them fixed by myself. From roaming across the shops to supervising the work, we ensured that everything behind this event was done by young and powerful women."

Major General Susane Giti, MBBS, MCPS, FCPS, MMAD, the highest ranking female officer in the Bangladesh Army, was present as the honourable chief guest.
