Bangladesh Brand Summit 2020: Nurturing Upcoming Brand Experts

Northern University Bangladesh presents Bangladesh Brand Summit 2020 had its second panel discussion of day two, on 'Nurturing Upcoming Brand Experts'. In association with The Daily Star, Samakal and Channel i online, and organised by Think Content, the panel session comprised of Ashraf Bin Taj, the Co Founder and Managing Director, International Distribution Company Bangladesh, and the President of MSB, Omar Nasif Abdullah Lecturer, Department of Marketing & International Business & Assistant Proctor, North South University, Dini Tajudin, the CEO of Diniflix.com, Rajesh Srinivasan, author of the book – Marketing Success Formula and the moderator Jamie Duncan, the Head of Learning and Development at UpUp Technologies.

Omar Nasif Abdullah began the discussion by stating, "Students are not quite aware about the industry, and that's not the problem. The question we need to ask ourselves is how much of that learning is focused on the industry, and how much learning is giving the students some real life exposure?". He stated the problem is that the industry people have some wrong expectations from academia, and academia has wrong perceptions about the industry.

Ashraf Bin Taj added to it, mentioning how both academia and the industry has to work together to ensure a proper learning structure. "There's a lot of knowledge gap," said Dini, while talking about the relationship between academia and the industry.

"It is critical to understand the strategies and structure before someone jumps into the industry,"  said Rajesh Srinivasan. The session ended after fruitful discussions about how academia and the industry both play major roles in nurturing upcoming brand managers.
