Energy can never be dissolved. It is transformed from one form to another and human beings have the capability of attracting energy from outside source. Whether we attract positive energy or the negative, it completely depends on us. This is what Sonia Bashir Kabir taught the participants of the third session of Coffee with Mentor.

Over cups of coffee, Sonia Bashir Kabir, currently the Managing Director for Microsoft Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Laos, along with the participants discussed how important it is to enjoy the journey, before one reaches the ultimate goal.

The third session of Coffee with Mentor, partnered by Gloria Jean's Coffees and Star Youth, The Daily Star, took place on February 26, 2018, at the Gloria Jean's Coffees café located in Gulshan 2. This time, representatives from 10 Minute School also took part in the session.

Sonia Bashir Kabir spoke about the "5 Cs" that can train young minds to think in a certain way. The "5 Cs" are: Curiosity, Courage, Challenge, Change and Compassion. She adds, "Do not aim. Do your best and one must have empathy."

While the society tends to ask the very popular 'work-life balance' question to women, Sonia Bashir thinks it is more about the quality of time that you spend with your family, not the quantity. Her journey as a woman has not been a stony one, because she did not let the thought of being a woman hold her back.

Including the group of young and enthusiastic participants from different backgrounds, Sonia Bashir expressed her desire to do something for the older generation of this country with technology. She has taught her mother how to play scrabbles on the internet. When she sees her mother being engaged with technology and enjoying it, she realises the impact technology can make on every generation.

The Mentor encourages individuals, regardless of their gender, to be more eager to learn about technology. She also thinks that, having work experience teaches a lot of things. Even jobs that are not enjoyed will teach one how to come back with a striking force. Therefore, students should always get a taste of working life before achieving higher degrees.

Empowering everyone with the inclusion of technology has been one of the main topics of this session. Our digital journey has just started and with more people coming forward to contribute in this journey, we can transform the country. In order to do that, Sonia Bashir Kabir thinks of a positive mindset as the key.
