Embassy Football Fest

Embassy Football Fest was held on July 12 and 13, 2018, at Sheikh Russel Roller Skating Complex, Dhaka. The colourful event was organised by Sports School and the festival was supported by and associated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Youth and Sports of Bangladesh.

All the foreign embassies in Bangladesh were invited to this festival. Ministry of Foreign Affairs-Bangladesh played as the host team, and High Commission of Canada, High Commission of India, Australian High Commission, Royal Norwegian Embassy, Embassy of Sweden, Embassy of Denmark, Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Iraqi Embassy, Embassy of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Embassy of Republic of Maldives, Embassy of State of Palestine, Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman, Embassy of the Republic of Korea, High Commission of Sri Lanka, and Diplomat Police-DMP competed in the tournament.

In the inauguration ceremony, Dean of the Diplomat, Vatican ambassador His Excellency Most Reverend Archbishop George Kocherry announced the opening of the festival. Australian High Commissioner H E Julia Niblett, Ambassador of Maldives H E Aishath Shaan Shakir, Ambassador of Myanmar H E U Lwin Oo and Sikder Mohammad Ashrafur Rahman, Deputy Chief Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bangladesh, were present amongst other guests.

"This is a very good initiative to bring different embassies and diplomats of different countries under one umbrella. This will make a very good bonding among the participants. Everybody enjoyed a lot. We welcome more of such activities," expressed Dean of the Diplomat, Vatican ambassador His Excellency Most Reverend Archbishop George Kocherry. He also thanked and congratulated Sports School for the successful completion of the festival.

Mahmudul Islam James, Sports School, said, "We want to promote Bangladesh as a secure and sports-friendly country."

The families of the participating ambassadors were present during the fest, all of whom enjoyed a lot. Sports School also made an announcement of arranging a "Cricket Festival" soon.

Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) provided the logistics support for the event. The Television Media Partner was Gazi TV, Print Media Partner was Star Youth, The Daily Star, and Radio Partner was Radio Bhoomi for the event.
