12 Years of FCBU

The Football Club of BRAC University (FCBU) recently celebrated 12 years.

The event started off with the intra-university "FIFA Fiesta", held at BRACU's indoor games room on December 28, 2017.

The participating universities at the tournament were North South University (NSU), Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), Islamic University of Technology (IUT), East West University (EWU), Sonargaon University (SU), University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) and the host, BRAC University (BRACU).

The first match of the group stage kicked off on December 1, 2017.

The first semifinal was an exciting, high voltage game between popular rivals BRACU and NSU. A tactical game ensued with neither team wanting to give the other an edge. The match went to penalties after it ended 1-1 during regular time. BRACU booked their place in the finals, winning 3-2 on penalties.

The other semifinal between AIUB and IUB also proceeded to the penalties, where AIUB qualified to the finals.

AIUB was definitely the "surprise package" of this tournament. However, BRACU managed to win the championship.

A girls inter-university football tournament was also organised on the same day. As the BRACU team failed to show up, the EWU team, being the only other participant, was declared champions by default.

The intra-university football competition was held the following day, and a few members of the alumni participated too.

The celebration ended through the Annual Award Ceremony, which was held at the BRACU auditorium on Monday, December 4, 2017. "I am glad FCBU happened to me and people are glad I was able to give them the celebration of 12 years of FCBU," Tousif Bandhan, the President of FCBU, expressed.
