When in Pushkar

The Pushkar Fair or Pushkar Mela is held annually in Pushkar, Rajsthan during the month of Kartik. It is the largest livestock fair in India where camels, horses and cows are traded. Pushkar is the earthly home of the Hindu god Brahma, and Pushkar Lake and the Brahma temple are pilgrimage sites for Hindus. During the month of Kartik, thousands of people make the pilgrimage there or attend the fair, which is a major economic activity in the area. The fair also gets a lot of tourists throughout the month with its abundance of attractions, like the ferris wheel, circus, food festivals, camel race, moustache competition and countless other traditional Rajsthani festivities.
