Symbol of protest

This is in reference to a write-up titled “The Long March of a Protestor’ published in Star Weekend magazine last week. Many social problems are continuously happening in our society but there are very few people like Mr. Mizanur Rahman, willing to come forward and protest. I was surprised to hear that he left the world of business, jobs, journalism and lastly politics only to devote himself to social movements. He raised his voice against drug peddling in his neighbourhood, protested to save the Sundarbans and wetlands, joined the road safety movements among many more. Even financial crisis couldn’t stop his creative protests. His wife’s support is also praiseworthy. Meanwhile, our feelings are gradually diminishing, and we are getting accustomed to the world as is, and not protesting against injustices. Mr. Mizanur Rahman has done a brave job by offering lemonade made with WASA’s impure water to the organisation’s top brass. Though the protest of Mr. Mizanur Rahman is symbolic but it had an impact in our society. If everyone raised their voice like him, then our society would be better.
