A New School on the Block

It was a little more than a month ago when Odommo Bangladesh Foundation made the newspapers – for all the wrong reasons. The media was suddenly filled with news headlines, showcasing young students as alleged child traffickers. Arian Arif, Jakia Sultana, Hasibul Hasan Sabuj and Firoz Alam Khan Shuvo were arrested on September 12, 2015. A storm of protests swept the social media platforms; as a result, the four young men and women of the foundation were granted bail after 1 month and 8 days.

Their story is a frustrating one. Despite the fact that the four young volunteers, founders and managers of the foundation were clearly innocent and everybody, including the officials have been aware of their innocence; the reason behind their arrest is still unclear and is still under investigation.

What interested the Star Weekend team, however, was the Mojar School, literally translating to a school for fun activities. To read further about this school, see this Week's Spotlight
