KAMAL LOHANI: A REVOLUTIONARY LIFE

We live in an age of armchair activism – where many people believe that sitting in an armchair holding a smartphone is enough to bring about a change. Maybe in the near future, an armchair and the virtual world could be the only medium of activism for the 'digital' generation. However, back in the 50s, things were different. Back then, activism meant raising your voice, hand in the air, rendering powerful, evocative songs against establishments and the wrong doings of the authorities. 

Kamal Lohani, a legendary journalist and an epic figure of cultural activism was born on June 26, 1934. He grew up witnessing the Indian independence movement, the partition and the language movement. On the occasion of his 81st birthday, the Star Weekend talks to the revolutionary activist and Marxist about his journey in the cultural arena of the country.
