The Friendship Retrospective, Beyond Borders: Melbourne NSUers Gala Night

Melbourne, coffee capital of the world, where some of us have built a home for ourselves, away from our roots; in this place where friendship brews like a fine, aromatic blend, the Melbourne NSUers family provides a beautiful sense of belonging. Within their own little network, they create smiles and memories, just like their yesteryears in Dhaka. And to relive this nostalgia, and recreate the charm of its golden years, the North South University Alumni Association in Melbourne, popularly known as Melbourne NSUers, hosted its first Gala Night at one of Melbourne's iconic heritage buildings, the Fitzroy Town Hall - the grand red carpet Gala being the first of its kind to be hosted in the Bangladeshi community in Melbourne. The Gala Night-Celebrate Grandeur was attended by more than 200 guests on the 29th of October, 2016. Starting at 5:30PM the celebration of Banquet Dinner, Red carpet Photo shoot and mesmerising music continued to entertain our guests until 11:00PM.

The crowd, an eclectic mix of ages and generations (from over 50 to only a few months old) came alive with electrifying music, humming tunes, both old and new, under the magnificent chandeliers of the Fitzroy Town Hall, and crystal candelabras. The venue echoed with laughter and the same old "bondhu der adda" – friendly chatter, that has always been a reason for reunions. The in-house Melbourne NSUers performers created magic on stage, as did the two amazing star performers Emil and Kanti (NSUSS) – who had flown all the way from Dhaka to be a part of the Melbourne NSUers celebration.

Thanks to the massive team effort that has ensured a huge turnout of NSU alumni in Melbourne, making the Gala a great success. Apart from brainstorming the tiniest details involved in organising the event, the Melbourne NSUers team used almost every possible marketing technique – posters, videos, banners, slide show, etc. it could produce in a short time frame, and shared them a multiple times on social media platforms to reach out to as many North South University alumni in Melbourne as possible. None of the effort and hard work however, would have been possible without the generous support and contribution of the event sponsors: PNS Group, Yarra Council, Azure & Jade, and Enprint.
