Naveed Mahbub is one of the first Bangladeshi stand-up comedians. He is the founder of Naveed's Comedy Club (NCC). After completing his Bachelors in Electrical Engineering from BUET, he went to the United States to complete his Masters. He worked as an Engineer in California and then has been working in the field of stand-up comedy. He believes that there is a huge potential of stand-up comedy in Bangladesh and if it is practised well, it will be flourished rapidly as a profession.

When did you start your 'comedic' journey?
From 2004! I was in California and worked as an engineer. I used to go to many comedy clubs and was inspired by the comedians. Once, I expressed my interest in stand-up to one of the comedians and he suggested that I go to Sandy Shore, a very popular comedian and mentor. Learning some techniques from Sandy, I started stand-up comedy myself.

How do you define stand-up comedy for the people who don't know about it?
The most important thing is stand-up comedy is not delivering joke. It is something telling about the real life experience and observation with some exaggeration in order to make it humorous and entreating to the audiences.

What was your most recent performance?
Last Thursday, at Naveed's Comedy Club.

If anyone wants to be a stand-up comedian, what qualifications he/she should have?
Firstly, the ability of entertaining people with words, making fun, then public speaking skill, and then practising more and more (Not in front of mirror, practising in stage).

Who is your Idol?
Idols are many. But here I want to mention George Carlin, an American late stand-up comedian. Another is Jeannie Gaffigan, she is also from America.
