Why is our electoral system in such an ailing state?

During the post-election violence in a union parishad of Thakurgaon's Ranishankail upazila, a child was recently killed in her mother's arms. Such violence is unthinkable in a local election, which is not even directly related to the transition of state power. The country is now in an extremely dangerous political reality.
