BIWTA awards shipbuilding contract to company termed ‘biggest’ land grabbers in Munshiganj

Three Angle Marine Ltd, a shipbuilding and repairing company, has been named the biggest river grabber in Munshiganj by the district administration and National River Conservation Commission. But the same company has been contracted by the Ministry of Shipping and the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) for building and repairing ships.

The company has built a shipping yard and a duck farm in the illegally occupied land. The local upazila chairman has received threats and local farmers who own the land have been assaulted for protesting the encroachment.
