Why are women the primary target of cybercrimes?

For women, cyberspace is appallingly hostile and traumatising. Why, time and time again, are women of this country becoming victims of hate crimes, bullying and blackmail on social media platforms?

Cyber Support for Women of Bangladesh Police, in its first seven months after initiation, has received at least 15,000 complaints. This number is just the tip of the iceberg compared to the everyday experience of almost every woman in Bangladesh -- as social stigma, distrust in immediate justice, intimidation, or the mere prevalence of continuous criminal acts withhold women to case files.
