Hearing on Rohingya genocide against Myanmar at UN court

Myanmar has been accused of carrying out ethnic cleansing against Rohingya community since long.

Due to the ethnic cleansing, more than 1.1 million of Rohingyas have fled the country while Myanmar authority has repeatedly been denying the allegation in the international arena.

At last, Gambia, an African country, on behalf of the 57-member Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), filed a lawsuit with International Court of Justice (ICJ) accusing Myanmar of violating the UN Genocide Convention.

The hearing of the case was started this afternoon in The Hague of Netherland.

During the hearing, Humayun Kabir, former ambassador who is also an international political commentator, took part in a discussion on the Rohingya crisis at The Daily Star Centre while Journalist Golam Mortaza was hosting the event.
