Chewing gum in one's schooldays required a great deal of care and guile.

An eagle-eyed teacher was always on the look-out for students masticating the forbidden substance, and a piercing stare accompanied by an invitation to spit the offending material out usually followed. 

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil, however, must have been more than a match for his educators as a young tearaway. 

Who needs a bin when the Germany international is just as happy to use his gum as juggling material.
