Bangladesh are in complete disarray on the fourth day of the second Test against Australia at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong today.
The Tigers were 85-5 at lunch with Sabbir Rahman (20) battling it out alongside skipper Mushfiqur Rahim (16) after they lost their first five wickets for 43 runs on the board.
When Bangladesh came out to bat after Australia had taken an impressive 72-run first innings lead in an extended morning session, they fell like a pack of cards on a wary pitch that took bounce and turn especially from those rough footmarks.
The carnage started when opener Soumya Sarker was out for nine off pace bowler Pat Cummins. After a brief resistance from Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes they lost their next four wickets for 12 runs. And the shuffle in the batting order in an attempt enforce left-right combination also did not work.
Tamim completed a forgettable second Test when he was stumped for 12. The left-hander paid the price of going down the wicket against Australia's most successful bowler Nathan Lyon, who was the chief tormentor with already three second-innings wicket in the bag and a match-haul of ten.
Imrul became the second Lyon victim, driving straight to Glenn Maxwell at cover for 15. Coming into bat up the order Nasir Hossain edged one behind the wicket off left-arm spinner Steve O'Keefe for 5 and when Shakib Al Hasan departed in the same fashion against Lyon, the home side were in a danger of an innings defeat.
Sabbir and Mushfiqur however rebuild the innings as they did in the first innings when the Tigers lost their first five wickets for 117 runs. The pair has so for put on 42 runs and living dangerously on that turning track.
Earlier, left-arm fast bowler Mustafizur Rahim took the last Australian wicket to finish with 4-84.
