Mushfiqur Rahim's unbeaten 57 off 37 deliveries and Naim Sheikh's 52-ball 62 helped Bangladesh to a challenging total of 171 for four in their first Super 12 match of the T20 World Cup against Sri Lanka in Sharjah today.

Mushfiqur, who has an incredible record against the Lankans in this format, gave the innings the impetus with a clever knock to help the Tigers plunder 99 runs off the last 10 overs after Bangladesh were asked to bat first.

The little master smashed two sixes and five fours and was ably supported by skipper Mahmudullah, who remained not out for 10 off five balls.

Naim Sheikh, who gave the Tigers the perfect launching pad with a half-century, was dismissed for 62 off 52 deliveries.

Opener Naim Sheikh brought up his second half-century of the tournament with a boundary over the bowler's head as Bangladesh moved to 107 for two in 14 overs.

the left-hander was batting on 55 off 46 deliveries with Mushfiqur Rahim unbeaten on 24 off 17 balls as Bangladesh batting gathered pace moving towards the business end of the innings.

Bangladesh scored 41 for one in the Powerplay in their opening Super 12 match of the T20 World Cup against Sri Lanka at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium today.

Naim was batting on 22 off 21 deliveries while Liton Das got dismissed for 16 off 16 deliveries as Bangladesh put up their second highest Powerplay score of the tournament, the highest being 45 for one against Papua New Guinea in their last first round match.

This 40-run opening partnership was by far Bangladesh's best opening partnership of the current T20 World Cup, the previous best being 11 against Oman.
