Mushfiqur Rahim, the leading run-scorer in the history of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), is determined to break his BPL trophy jinx this time.

Bangladesh batting stalwart Mushfiqur talked to the media today at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur after his training session for Khulna Tigers, one of the six teams participating in the 2022 BPL, slated to begin tomorrow.

"The T20 format is really very challenging. And in BPL, competitive cricket is played with quality overseas players. Everyone wants to be champion here.

"We want to finish in the top two. I hope that we can clinch the trophy [with Khulna] and preferably this year," the right-hand batter said.

Mushfiqur, who leads the Khulna side, wants to carry his run of form from the previous editions of BPL but is more focused on his team's objectives.

"We were runners-up last time and I came close to scoring a ton twice. But both times, we won and that is more important. I want to play match-winning innings so that the team may benefit," stated the experienced batter, who is not at all bothered about his place in the Tigers T20I side.

"I'm not thinking of my comeback into the national side. All my focus is on BPL. I don't ponder on what the future may bring. Putting the best effort for my team is enough for me. Since I was directly signed [by Khulna Tigers], I want to reflect that fact on the ground, that's all I'm thinking," Mushfiqur concluded.
