Anamul's purple patch continues since return to national side

Opener Anamul Haque Bijoy continued his good run of form, picking up his fifth ODI fifty in the third and final ODI against Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club today.

Anamul brought up his fifty off 48 deliveries when he guided a Victor Nyauchi delivery towards thirdman for a single in the 17th over. The right-hander remains unbeaten on 72 off 60 deliveries with Bangladesh 109 for three after 21 overs.

Getting a call back into the national side after more than six years on the back of brilliant performances in the fifty-over format in the latest domestic season, Anamul made hay almost instantly as he scored a 62-ball 73 in the first ODI and got a decent start – a 25-ball 20 – in the second match.

Anamul, however, played a role in getting skipper Tamim Iqbal run-out today following a confusion between the duo while running between the wickets. But Anamul stayed unfazed, striking Richard Ngarava for a six over extra cover just a ball later.

Anamul, in fact, has been the most aggressive one in the middle. He made his intent clear when he went down the ground to clear the infield off an Ngarava delivery for his first boundary.

The right-hander has not shied away from using his feet, smashing a total of five boundaries and three sixes so far. With the Tigers losing three quick wickets, Anamul holds the key for Bangladesh and the right-hander would hope to convert his fifty to a hundred, helping Bangladesh post a commanding total.
