Tamim fails to follow own advice as Roach reaches 250 landmark 

"This is not a wicket where you can do anything you want. You have to play a patient game in Test cricket," Tamim Iqbal had said after Bangladesh scored a paltry 234 despite Tamim and Liton Das scoring a 46 and 53, respectively, on day one of the ongoing Saint Lucia Test.

Two days later, however, as Bangladesh began their second innings while trailing by 174, Tamim failed in the test of patience as the opener brought his downfall by committing an unforced error. Tamim got out caught behind as he needlessly slashed a wide delivery from Kemar Roach, who grabbed the 250th wicket of his Test career.    

Anamul Haque Bijoy, who returned to the Test side after almost eight years, was the latest to depart before rain halted play for the second time in the day. Bijoy got trapped in front on four by an in-swinger from Roach and a review taken couldn't save the batter, who thought the height factor would work in his favour. The Tigers are 32 for three after batting for 8.5 overs, still trailing by 142 runs.

After Tamim's dismissal, Mahmudul Hasan Joy was removed – Roach the wicket-taker again -- as the rookie opener edged the ball towards the slip cordon. Joy attempted a defensive stroke, unlike Tamim, but an apparent lack of footwork played a part in his dismissal.

With overcast conditions conducive to swing bowling, the Tigers are up against an uphill task in the second and series-deciding Test, with a maximum of eight sessions left to play.
