Taskin eliminates skipper Latham

Taskin Ahmed drew first blood after Lunch, dismissing opener Tom Latham as the New Zealand skipper dragged the pacer's delivery onto the stumps.

Latham had underestimated the bounce which Taskin extracted off a good length from outside the off stump and was misled by the variable bounce Taskin generated off the pitch earlier in the over. And with the skipper's dismissal, the in-form batter and the only centurion of the Test match so far, Devon Conway has arrived at the crease to play another vital knock for New Zealand.

The Kiwis are on 40 for one after 16 overs, trailing by 90 runs. Opener Will Young, unbeaten on 21 off 42 balls, got lucky in the final delivery of the fifteenth over bowled by Ebadot Hossain as Young thick-edged the ball but it fell into the vacant area of the slip cordon.

Both the pacers -- Taskin and Shoriful Islam -- have bowled well so far, hitting the right channels, more often than not. And assuming the frequency of inconsistent bounce to increase as time goes on, Bangladesh bowlers would always fancy their chances to make inroads on the rest of the fourth day of the first Test of the series at the Bay Oval.
