Shakib, Mushfiqur rebuilding after Mominul departs early on Day 2

Bangladesh Test skipper Shakib Al Hasan and veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim started rebuilding after Mominul Haque departed early on the second day of their lone Test against Ireland at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur today. 

Mominul, trying to walk across and maneuver a shot behind the square on the leg side, was bowled around his legs off a Mark Adair delivery in the third over of the day. He had to walk after a 34-ball 17. 

Skipper Shakib, however, did not let the visitors cash in on the momentum as the all-rounder dealt in boundaries since coming on to bat. Shakib, so far, struck five boundaries and has scored with a strike rate of over 100. 

Mushfiqur, who has been a bit more cautious in his approach, also started playing freely as the duo stitched together a 50-plus stand for the fourth wicket. 

After 23 overs, Bangladesh reached 95 for three with Shakib unbeaten on 29 off 30 and Mushfiqur not out on 23 off 37. 

Bangladesh resumed the day on 34 for two in 10 overs after bundling out Ireland for 214 in 77.2 overs in their first innings.
