Bangladesh's Al Amin, Marzan, Humaira bag gold in Karate at SA Games

Mahfuzur sets new national record in high jump

Bangladesh's Al Amin won the second gold medal for the country in 60-kg weight category kumite event of karate, beating his Pakistani counterpart in the final of the ongoing 13th SA Games in Nepal today.

Al Amin in karate had beaten Pakistan's Zafar by 7-3 points in the final. 

After Al Amin, Marzan Akter Piya secured second gold medal of the day for the country by beating her Pakistani counterpart by 4-3 points in 55kg category of Women's Kumite Karate event today. She had defeated Manish Chowdhury of Nepal by 2-1 points in the semifinal earlier on the day.

Later in the day, Humaira Akhter Antara, who had won the first medal of the Games for Bangladesh on Monday, won gold in 61-kg category of kumite (Karate) beating Anu Gurang of Nepal by 5-2 points in the final at the Satdobato Sports Complex today.

Yesterday it was Dipu Chakma, who secured Bangladesh’s first gold medal in the ongoing 13th South Asian Games by winning the taekwondo poomsae event 29-plus-year category at Satdobato, Lalitpur.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh's Mahfuzur Rahman got silver medal jointly with India as the athletes of both the countries cleared 2.16 meters in high jump in athletics at Dasarath today. Mahfuzur set a new national record, beating his previous best of 2.15 meters. India won gold in high jump.
