Siddikur's chance to regain touch

Bangladesh's premier golfer Siddikur Rahman will look to take the regain some sort of form ahead of the Bashundhara Bangladesh Open later this month when he takes on a stellar field in the first edition of the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open which gets underway today.

The 30-year-old golfer has missed cuts in three of the four Asian Tour events he participated in this season including the Indonesia Masters last month. But as he is set to lead a 31-man Bangladesh contingent in the first ever Asian Tour event to be held in Kurmitola from May 27, Siddikur will be eyeing a confidence booster from a good outing in Mauritius.

The two-time Asian Tour winner will have to compete with a 132-man field which includes Thailand's Kiradech Aphibarnrat, Denmark's Thomas Bjorn and South Africa's George Coetzee in the 1-million-euro event which has been jointly sanctioned by the European, Asian and Sunshine Tours.

Siddikur currently stands 27th in the Asian Tour Order of Merit for this year, with a prizemoney of 38,7000 dollars.
