Shakil retains 10m gold

South Asian Games gold medallist Shakil Ahmed retained the title of the men's 10m Air Pistol event in the 29th National Shooting Championship by beating Anwar Hossain at the National Shooting Complex in Gulshan yesterday.

The Army Shooting Association shooter, who won gold in the 50m Air Pistol event of the SA Games in Assam last year, scored 234.4 points to confirm his second successive gold while his teammates Anwar and Abdur Razzak won the silver and bronze medals after scoring 233.1 points and 210.3 points respectively.

In the junior section of the same event, Pias Hossain bagged the gold scoring 229.3 points, some 2.3 points more than silver medal winner Mostasir Arefin Naeem. The bronze medal went to Shakhawat Hossain who scored 207.3 points.

Veteran shooter Towfiq Shahriar Chandan of Kushtia Rifle Club won the men's 50m Rifle Three Position gold medal by scoring 1140 points while Shovon Chowdhury of Dhaka Rifle Club and Ramjan Ali of Army Shooting Association finished second and third scoring identical 1129 points.

In the junior group of the same event, Abu Sufian of BSKP shot to gold with a score of 1113 points while Rabiul Islam of Narayanganj Rifle Club and Jamiul Khan of BKSP grabbed silver and bronze medals as they scored 1104 points and 1098 points respectively.
