Seminar on sports injuries held

The Bangladesh Association of Sports Medicine (BASM) yesterday held a seminar on sports medicine at the National Sports Council Auditorium.

BASM president professor Dr. Kanak Kanti Barua discussed the importance of immediate treatment of head and brain injuries and necessary measures needed to prevent such injuries. Dr. Mohammad Ali Emran, joint secretary of BASM, spoke on injury management and rehabilitation updates while Dr. Krishna Priya Das elaborated on management and prevention of common sports injuries.

Chief guest and state minister for sports, Biren Shikdar, opined that the BASM would play a key role in developing the country's sports while acting sports secretary Akhter Uddin Ahmed urged the association to organise such seminars with involvement of athletes, organisers and coaches from all disciplines so that the knowledge on prevention, treatment and management of injuries could be dispersed.

Deputy sports minister Arif Khan Joy and BASM secretary general Dipak Kumar Das also spoke on the occasion.
