Riyad’s record sequel 100

Mahmudullah Riyad became the first Bangladeshi batsman to strike consecutive centuries in a World Cup competition, and became the second man to do so in this tournament.

Remaining unbeaten at 128 from 123 balls against New Zealand at Hamilton, Riyad entered the top five list of run scorers in the World Cup 2015 today and made Bangladesh the only side to have batted complete 50 overs against the hosts thus far.

In the previous match against England, Mahmudullah scored a match-winning hundred and helped Bangladesh to qualify for the quarter-finals for the first time in history. He scored 103 runs from 138 balls (seven fours, two sixes) in that match.

Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara tops the list of the highest run-scorers in this World Cup and became the first batsman to score four successive centuries in cricket history, and that too in this tournament.

Apparently, Riyad's promotion up the order after the injury of Anamul Haque worked well in favour for Mahmudullah and the Tigers as he made the most of this opportunity.

Mahmudullah is the second batsman to have achieved consecutive centuries for Bangladesh in ODIs. Prior to him, the helm belonged to Shahriar Nafees.
