Popular boost for Police AC

Popular Life Insurance Limited came forward to sponsor Police Athletic Club for the Bangladesh Championship League, which gets underway at the Bangabandhu National Stadium today.

Police AC, one of the eight participating teams, were promoted to the second-tier of professional football league by the game's governing body despite the fact that they only became champions in the second division league last season and were expected to graduate to the first division.

Yousuf Ali, managing director of Popular Life Insurance, handed over a check worth Tk 50 lakh to inspector general of police AKM Shahidul Haque at the press conference at the Police Headquarters yesterday.
