Police did not find any evidence in support of film actress Naznin Akter Happy’s rape allegation against cricketer Rubel Hossain.

After investigation into the sensational allegation, the law enforcers urged the court to clear the cricketer of the charge.

Inspector Halima Khatun, investigation officer of the case, submitted the investigation report to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka this morning.

Judge Meher Nigar Suchona of the court fixed April 13 as the next date of hearing.

Happy filed the case with the Mirpur Model Police Station under the Prevention of Women and Child Repression Act on December 13 last year against Rubel for allegedly having an affair with her, whom he had apparently promised to marry.

On January 8, Rubel was sent to jail after he surrendered before a Dhaka court in connection with the rape case.

National team cricketer Rubel got bail till submission of the police report from a Dhaka court on January 11 and he walked out of jail the same day.

After getting the bail, he left for Australia in January for the Cricket World Cup 2015.

Dhaka court on December 31 allowed police to carry out a DNA test of Rubel and Happy to find out the truth over the rape allegation against the Bangladesh pacer.

Before the DNA test, Forensic Department of Dhaka Medical College handed over a report to Mirpur police, which claimed that Happy was not raped recently.

On December 15, the High Court granted Rubel an anticipatory bail for four weeks in the case.
