U-16s start strong in 2nd Test

The Bangladesh Under-16 team started strong in the second three-day Test against their Pakistani counterparts at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna yesterday.

Rihad Khan struck an unbeaten 120-ball 136 to help the young Tigers post a challenging 292 by the end of the first innings with the side also taking charge with the ball after the exchange.

Sent in to bat, despite a healthy contribution of 53 from opener Mofizul Islam Robin, the hosts were left reeling on 119 for five at one stage of the game. However, Rihad and Maksudur Rahman strung a together a magnificent 114-run partnership for the sixth-wicket to steady the ship before the latter was dismissed on 31 while Rihad remained unbeaten.

In reply, Pakistan struggled as they could only manage 20 runs for the loss of two wickets in eight overs by the end of the day’s play.
