Former hockey player Shimul dies after cardiac arrest

Former hockey player, umpire and organiser Hasan Ahmed Shimul died of cardiac arrest on Thursday evening at his Mouthtuli residence in Old Dhaka. He was 56 years old.

The former player-turn organiser left behind a his wife and a son along with lots of well-wishers to mourn his premature death.

"I would like to inform you with deep sorrow that our hockey secretary Shimul died of heart attack at his residence today evening," Wari Club general secretary Shamsul Alam Anu said via SMS on Thursday.

Shimul, who stood under the post for different clubs in country's top-flight hockey and also worked as an executive member of Bangladesh Hockey Federation, served hockey under many sub-committees.

Wari Club expressed their deepest sympathy to the deceased family and prayed for the departed soul.
